Fine-grained solids are cohesive, often hard to fluidize and tend to form bridges. Mass flow is guaranteed in the silo by the special geometrical form of the funnel outlet, the combination of efficient fluidization, and mechanical activation of the solid. Compression and shearing of the product is reliably prevented, and the single silo outlet is uniformly fed with product.
